Support Services for Adults with Learning Difficulties in South Gloucestershire
The Smile Lunch Club was launched in the summer of 2011 as a result of growing demand for a weekly day club where Service Users could learn cooking skills and participate in activities that the fortnightly Friendship Club night could not accommodate.
After a few initial club meetings focusing on cooking in the kitchens of the Shire Way club, Support Worker Jane McClure offered to write and direct a pantomime for Service Users. This had a really good response and immediately we were able to encourage Service Users to come along to get involved.
Since then, the club is buzzing every week with the excitement of rehearsals for some, mixed in with the satisfaction of others to contributing to the days lunch.
Regular activities at the Lunch Club include:
- Drama and Pantomime
- Stage prop & decor making
- Cooking skills
- Games
